Tricia GreavesWelcome

Welcome to the first issue of our Be Totally Fre*e-zine! Most of you have visited our website and filled out an evaluation at one time or other, and some of you are just excited and supportive of Be Totally Fre*e!'s passion for helping others overcome eating disorders and addictions. I am so excited to be able to reach each and every one of you with our newsletter! Thank you for taking the time to read on.

We at Be Totally Fre*e! have found a way up and out of pain and addiction, and we want to share the solution we've found with you. Many of you who live in other parts of the U.S. as well as other countries have asked us if there was ANY way you could benefit from what we offer without traveling to Los Angeles (until recently we were based in New Jersey.)

Well, the good news is that we have come up with great, new ways to reach out to you, right in your own home! Besides having a newly designed website (www.betotallyfree.com), with many cool features such as testimonials, photos and articles, we now are offering “Transformational Teleclasses” that you can attend by phone! This is a series of 6 classes that will draw you out of bondage to obsession and into a healthy, proactive lifestyle that's fre*e from self-destruction. Space is limited so register now!

We also offer a FRE*E, LIVE, monthly conference call that is guaranteed to boost your spirits as well as give you a taste (no pun intended) of all that Be Totally Fre*e! offers. Hurry to register now, the call is on Wednesday, June 7th at 6 pm PST/9 pm EST.

If that isn't enough, we have 2 NEW CDs on our website entitled: “When We Have Trouble With God,” and “A Moment's Peace, Visualization and Meditation for the Overactive Mind.” Who couldn't use a little help with spirituality and slowing down our busy minds? We are offering a 20% discount to those who order their CDs by June 15.

So that's a lot of good news! Please read on for great features like “Health Tips” and “Ask It Basket” and don't forget to forward this to a friend!!

With love,

Tricia Greaves

Ask it Basket

I can never seem to reach my goal weight. I get within 5 or 10 pounds of my goal and I begin the cycle of eating and gaining weight all over again. I am so frustrated! What is it about my goal that scares me?   Cheryl, Denver

Dear Cheryl:

98% of all diets fail. And most people gain back more than they lost. The reason why is because most overweight people aren't emotionally equipped to be thin. We think that losing the weight is enough, but the weight is a symptom of unaddressed emotions and stress that become magnified when we lose weight. I overate to cope, and I used fat to protect me from the world; it kept me from being too close to people, and it covered up feelings I was afraid to face. That is why dieting is ineffective. It was vital that I address the complicated issues underlying the fat. I had to make real changes in my lifestyle to lessen stress. I needed to be able to function without dependence on excess food and fat. I craved being thin, but I didn't realize that it required taking full responsibility for my feelings and reactions to life. This is no doubt a tall order and one I needed help to do. That is the deeper process we teach people in Be Totally Fre*e! Fat is not skin deep, it is soul deep. Looking within is the only hope.

Health Tips

STRESS

We all have it, but what is it costing us? Whether it's caused by happy or sad events, stress has been blamed for heart disease, stroke, ulcers, asthma, high blood pressure, migraines, rashes, overeating, undereating, drinking, and insomnia. Here are 5 quick stress dischargers you can use today and anytime. Give yourself the gift you deserve of practicing at least one a day.

1. Have a good cry

Tears may help relieve stress by ridding the body of potentially harmful chemicals produced in times of stress. It also always makes you feel better! It relieves stress and tension and helps you purge bottled up feelings and pain. It's a healthy thing to do, so don't apologize for crying.

2. Learn to pray

Don't just recite words you know by heart. Construct your own prayers. Talk to God like you would a caring friend. Express your fears, concerns, and troubles. And ask for help with all of it. Ask for guidance, wisdom, strength, clarity and peacefulness. You will feel better.

3. Talk it out

Say what you mean, mean what you say…and don't say it mean! The biggest cause of stress in any relationship is lack of communication and misunderstanding. Don't keep things bottled inside until you blow up. Learn to talk about your concerns, without blaming, and seek a common, workable solution.

4. Have some fun

Do something that you've wanted to do for a long time but haven't felt like you had the time. Set time aside NOW. If not now, when? You deserve to have fun, and recreation allows you to transfer your stressed state into other areas away from yourself. Make a point to have recreation especially after a time of intense pressure and stress. It's a health thing…so try it!

5. Take a walk

It's easy, it's good for your body, it's something you can do at any time of the day, and it's fre*e! Not only that, but it clears your mind of stress and worry, and reconnects you with the outdoors. Be sure to smile and say hello to passersby—that will boost your spirits even more.
